    Go cozy and intimate

The biggest draw for living in a small space is the cozy and intimate vibe that you can create. This is the perfect situation for individuals or couples who enjoy a more intimate atmosphere. A smaller space can create a sense of closeness that is not always possible in larger homes. In a small living room, you can create a cozy seating area with a comfortable sofa, armchair, and rug. Use warm colours such as warm burnt oranges, beige, soft greens, and reds, and ensure to pair these rich colourful items with soft textures and low-level, warm lighting to make the space feel inviting.  You can find some gorgeous soft furnishings from Zara home.

    Easy to maintain

One of the biggest benefits of small spaces is that they are easy to maintain. Cleaning, organizing, and decluttering are all much easier in a small space than in a large home. With less space to fill, you can focus on quality over quantity, and avoid accumulating unnecessary clutter. Our Morro double beds all come with smart under-bed storage, there are ample wardrobes and clever hidden storage solutions in whichever size studio or apartment you decide to go for. We also provide all your small space furniture as standard; you will find multi-functional furniture to maximize storage space.  Plus, we have a hoover and cleaning products available in the reception areas so you don’t have to store a bulky hoover in your space. You can also speak to the front desk team to organise bi-weekly cleans.

    Cost-effective

Designing a small space can be cost-effective, as you need less furniture and decor to fill the space. Plus – all your furniture such as double bed, mattress, sofa, table and chairs etc comes with the flat anyway. With fewer items to purchase, you can focus on investing in high-quality, durable pieces that will last for years to come. Look for items that can serve multiple purposes that will last the test of time. We recommend investing in beautifully coloured and textured cushions and throws, also a lovely set of cutlery and serving bowls and platters – you’ll never regret these investments!

    Small living room ideas

When we designed the living rooms, we carefully considered the furniture for the space and ensured that the items we selected were proportionate to the space. Several of our spaces have a small sofa or loveseat, which provides comfortable seating without taking up too much room. In Boston, our apartments and studios come with wall-mounted storage and a smart TV stand with built-in storage to keep your space clutter-free. To further make your living space feel more spacious and open we recommend incorporating natural light and mirrors to make the space feel larger.

    Go green

Another tip we love, is the use of a few carefully selected house plants. These are not only easy on the eye, but they are also super beneficial for our health. We have some top tips on which plants should go where in your home.

    1. Living rooms: go for a peace lily - it is a low-maintenance plant with a pretty white flower that absorbs indoor air pollutants. Philodendrons are another air purifier you can get both vining and upright varieties, so you’ll be able to find a spot in your home to incorporate them into your décor.

    2. Bedrooms: Most plants emit oxygen during the day then at night they start to release carbon dioxide. Orchids and snake plants do the reverse and give out oxygen at night, which makes them perfect night-time companions.

    3. Bathrooms: If you want to have a plant in your bathroom, then you need plants that love moisture and heat and can cope with low light conditions. Boston ferns are a classic bathroom plant and thrive in filtered light and moist air.

    4. Kitchens: Aloe vera has the benefit of being a healing plant and one that is almost impossible to kill. Use the gel from the interior of the leaves on scrapes and burns for an instant cooling effect.  :

    Small bedroom ideas

In a small bedroom, we recommend using light colours and minimal decor to create a calming atmosphere, shop for accessories at La Redoute, Arket, and H&M home. Use wall-mounted shelves or a dresser with a mirror to keep the space organized.

Don’t forget, our double beds come with under-bed storage as standard and the rooms have ample storage cupboards and options. Plus – we have bookable secure storage spaces in the basement of our buildings for everything you don’t need while you live with us.

Have a look at Pinterest to find more items to pair together in a stylish and simplistic way. We also would recommend if you’ve got an item you love but can't find it online, Google Image search the item and you might even be able to find this!

    Studio apartment decor ideas

Curating a beautifully designed studio apartment can be challenging, but with the right approach, it can be a cozy and functional space. In some of our spaces, we use a room divider or a bookshelf to separate the sleeping area from the living area. If your space doesn’t have this then you can keep an eye on Facebook marketplacevinterior, or gumtree to find a screen room divider. When you are looking at your studio as a whole, it is really important to incorporate natural light and mirrors to make the space feel larger.
